February's book of the month was the Mastery of Love, a wisdom book by Don Miguel Ruiz and I have some basic take-aways from it!
The Magic Kitchen chapter is my favorite. Kind of like the creativity analogy. I can’t run out of this fabulous thing... If you have love for yourself and it’s overflowing, you can give it freely to others without expecting or needing anything in return. In order to love someone else, you must first love yourself. By having self love, you are able to understand what Love truly is and you can then love others. Love is unconditional. You love yourself for who you are as a whole, flaws and all, same with your partner or friend. You are responsible for your own happiness. You cannot look to someone else to provide you with happiness or you become dependent on them and a relationship cannot thrive with people needing someone else to make them happy. Try to avoid obligations and expectations and you will find yourself to be more happy and less disappointed. We thrive with love, not with fear. If you Love yourself and don’t hold on to expectations, you will find yourself in a much happier place. When we do something freely we are in the track of love, if we feel we must do something in order to satisfy an expectation we are on the track of fear and that can become destructive.
The book we've selected for March is A Simplified Life by Emily Ley. As I've stated in previous posts, my love for this author/human is DEEP. She makes things simple and practical and her book convey love and grace every time I pick them up. This book falls in line with our general March theme of SPRING CLEANING so I hope you enjoy it and it can give you an idea of areas of life you can simplify in this new season of life! Emily gives "tactical tools for intentional living" and breaks it down by simplifying 10 areas of life: your Space, Style, Meals, Schedule, Finances, Hospitality, Technology, Self, Motherhood, and Faith.
